Bespoke ceremony design and dramaturgy

I write and edit every script to fit the people at the center. That means narrative elicitation, an order of service you can follow, and clean dramaturgy—purposeful openings, transitions that orient guests, and a closing that leaves people steady. Drafts are shared and revised with you; vow coaching and rehearsal are built into the process so words land with clarity on the day.

What is Dramaturgy?

Dramaturgy comes from theater and storytelling. A dramaturg in theater helps structure a performance so the audience experiences a clear emotional arc, meaning, and progression. When applied to officiating, dramaturgy means: Designing a ceremony so that each moment builds meaning, emotion, and connection. Rather than simply performing procedural steps, the officiant acts as a guide through a story—the story of the couple and the significance of the commitment being made.

What is a Bespoke Ceremony?

A bespoke ceremony is a ceremony that is fully customized and uniquely designed for a specific couple or individuals, rather than using a standard script or template. The word “bespoke” originally comes from British tailoring, meaning something made specifically to order. In the context of officiating, it refers to a ceremony that is crafted from scratch to reflect the couple’s story, values, beliefs, and personalities.

02.

Intercultural and LGBTQ+ competent practice

I work with family traditions, faith leaders, and same‑sex couples to preserve ritual integrity while making actions understandable for all present. That involves research, respectful adaptation of symbolic elements, clear explanatory language for guests, and attention to pronouns and chosen family dynamics so the ceremony honours identity and lineage without flattening meaning.

Ceremonies I Offer:

I create clear, carefully shaped rituals for the moments that matter. Whether you need a wedding, vow renewal, funeral, handfasting, home blessing, or a secure virtual ceremony, I start by listening and then design a ceremony that fits your values, story, and practical needs. Every engagement includes a planning conversation, a custom script, and the support you need—from vow coaching to legal filing guidance. I also offer a complimentary 15-minute discovery call to help you begin.

How I Shape a Ceremony

01

Start with a conversation

You send an inquiry and we have a complimentary 15‑minute discovery call. This is where we decide if we’re a good fit, outline the event’s shape, and I share  next steps.

02

Planning and storytelling

We schedule a longer planning session where I ask questions, gather stories, note family dynamics, and confirm legal or logistical limits. This is the listening phase—the material I need to craft a ceremony that holds what matters.

03

Script, revise, and coach

I draft the ceremony and a simple order of service, then we revise together. This is where vows, readings, music, and any rituals are shaped. I offer vow coaching and practical edits so the language is clear and inhabitable.

Held & Heard

I’ve been honored to help people shape moments that matter—and folks often tell me those ceremonies felt honest, clear, and deeply personal. Read a few client notes below to hear how listening, careful language, and simple rituals made big transitions feel held and true.

They crafted a ceremony that reflected our story, coached our vows, and handled the legal details—calm, compassionate, and exactly ours.

— Maya Alvarez

Agape designed a ceremony that honored both faiths, explained each ritual for our guests, and eased family tensions with clarity and care.

— Priya Mehta

For my father’s service they provided grief-informed guidance, organized readings, and created space for family voices—structured without feeling staged.

— Margaret O'Leary

They blended our ancestral customs with a fresh ritual, and the planning packet and rehearsal made the day meaningful and effortless.

— Diego Santos

Ceremonies are tools for change — I keep them honest, intentional, and tailored to the people at the center. I believe we are all created as equals, and all should be treated with understanding and dignity.

My ceremonies celebrate all of the important steps within our lives.

I look forward to being your legal officiant.
